Background
After studying medicine, public health, nutrition, and disease prevention at Tulane University in New Orleans, Dr. Tague determined to devote his career to assisting patients in achieving optimum health through the power of weight loss and excellent nutrition. Dr. Tague’s clinics offer a customized care approach with one-on-one consultations with a highly experienced and understanding medical doctor.
Dr. Tague’s treatment plans address common problems like excessive appetite, food cravings, chronic overeating, “yo-yo” dieting, stress eating, and emotional eating. The common challenges of a sluggish metabolism and “less than ideal” eating patterns are also managed.
A Personal Note from Dr. Tague…
Although not intentional, some of my best training for health and weight management was at Kansas State University while studying Chemical Engineering. In particular, I became very interested in the study of energy (calorie) management in different mechanical systems. Little did I know that this in depth study would one day apply to my patients and calorie control of the human body!
At Tulane University Medical School and School of Public Health, my interests focused on nutrition, preventive medicine and health promotion. I was very fortunate to attend one of only two medical schools in the country that offered training in public health and nutrition in addition to medical school. Unfortunately, standard medical school’s nutrition education is entirely inadequate!
Once I started my private medical practice two decades ago, I was determined to establish a practice that focused on achieving optimal weight and metabolic health in my patients. It was obvious to me that this approach, using nutrition, was the only valid approach to truly optimizing health for my patients. Although unconventional, and not easy, establishing those priorities early in my career have allowed me to provide nutrition and medical weight loss services that have proven life-changing and transformational for thousands* of patients. Utilizing proven nutritional approaches continues to be foundational in my care of patients. I am convinced there is no other effective method to control the epidemic of illness and quality of life challenges that face the 2/3 of our population that is overweight.
Although we quickly outgrew our first buildings, the Center for Nutrition and Preventive Medicine now occupies two modern, efficient offices in Kansas City and Topeka with over 15,000 square feet of medical space for serving our patients. It has been a privilege for me to assist thousands* of patients in their pursuit of optimal health through weight loss and nutrition and I hope that we will be able to assist you in your weight loss and optimal health goals.
Best wishes for Optimum Health,
Rick Tague, M.D., M.P.H. & T.M.
